Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes marked their first public appearance together in several years at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on August 4. The Hollywood couple was seen in the audience during two athletic events, beginning with the dressage individual Grand Prix freestyle at the Château de Versailles. Gosling was casually dressed in a red plaid shirt, a white Olympics hat, and translucent sunglasses, while Mendes complemented her black dress with white sunglasses and a straw sun hat.
The couple continued to enjoy the festivities at the women’s gymnastics uneven bars final at Bercy Stadium, where Gosling switched his white cap for green Olympics merchandise. As they watched the competition, which featured a bronze medal win for Team USA gymnast Suni Lee, Gosling was seen with his arm around Mendes’ shoulder. One NBC sports commentator remarked on their cool demeanor during the live broadcast.
Gosling and Mendes began their relationship after meeting on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011 and are the parents of two daughters: Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8. While their daughters attended the gymnastics event with them, their faces were obscured in photos.
The couple values their privacy, keeping personal details about their lives under wraps. Mendes revealed their marriage in November 2021, referring to Gosling as her “husband,” though the exact date of their wedding remains unclear. She has also had a “de Gosling” wrist tattoo for several years.
In a 2020 Instagram comment, Mendes explained her choice not to share personal photos of her family online, stating, “My man and kids are private. That’s important to me.”
In a recent interview, Mendes discussed stepping back from acting to raise her daughters, while Gosling shared how fatherhood has influenced his career choices. He expressed that he now avoids roles that might lead him to a “dark place,” stating, “The decisions I make, I make them with Eva, and we make them with our family in mind first.”
