Morris, an 11-foot-long alligator renowned for his appearances in various films and television shows, has passed away at a Colorado preserve at the age of at least 80. Handler Jay Young shared the news in a heartfelt tribute posted on Facebook, where he was seen stroking Morris while bidding farewell.
Actor Adam Sandler, who famously starred alongside Morris in the 1996 film “Happy Gilmore,” expressed his condolences on social media, reminiscing about the alligator’s unique personality and his contributions to filmmaking. Sandler fondly recalled how Morris often presented challenges to those around him, including directors and crew members, highlighting his demand for excellence during shoots. He concluded his tribute with a touching farewell, appreciating the care Morris received from Young throughout the years.
Morris, weighing 640 pounds, also made appearances in notable productions such as “Interview with the Vampire,” “Dr. Dolittle 2,” and “Blues Brothers 2000,” alongside features in popular TV shows like “Coach” and “Night Court.” Young noted that Morris exhibited strange behavior in the week leading up to his passing, declining food and not displaying his typical lunge. However, Young confirmed that Morris had a happy life and ultimately died of natural causes.
Originating from a backyard in Los Angeles, where he was discovered in 1975, Morris retired from acting in 2006 and spent his later years at the Colorado Gator Farm in Mosca.
