Hollywood Icons Pitt and Cruise May Rev Up “F1” Sequel!

Following the immense success of “F1,” Apple is reportedly considering a sequel, sparking excitement about potential appearances from Hollywood icons Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. It’s been over three decades since the duo shared the screen in “Interview with a Vampire.” Both actors were initially set to star in “Ford v Ferrari,” a project that ultimately had varied outcomes for them, with Cruise opting out when he learned his character, Carroll Shelby, wouldn’t have substantial driving scenes.

Pitt revealed in an interview that both he and Cruise had ambitions to drive in “Ford v Ferrari.” He shared, “What it came down to is that we both wanted to drive, and [Tom] wanted to play Shelby, and I wanted to play Ken Miles.” When Cruise found out his character’s role behind the wheel would be limited, he stepped away. Given this history, fans are curious to see if their characters could face off in the rumored “F1” sequel.

Director Joseph Kosinski has teased that Cruise’s character from “Days of Thunder,” Cole Trickle, might intersect with Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes. He made a compelling case when he noted, “Who wouldn’t pay to see those two go head-to-head on the track?”

Pitt emphasized his desire to again be behind the wheel in the sequel, stressing that while “F1” should remain centered on Damson Idris’s character, Joshua Pierce, he hopes to reconnect Sonny with a thrilling narrative. “Sonny’s probably out on the Bonneville Salt Flats, setting speed records or something like that,” he reflected, indicating an interest in maintaining the spirit of racing.

The original “F1” film has proven to be a box office success, raking in $161 million within its first week of release, and appears well poised for increased earnings during the extended Independence Day weekend. This unprecedented success marks a significant milestone for Apple’s film division.

Pitt expressed genuine joy at witnessing families and friends enjoying the movie together, noting that such collective experiences are becoming rare in present times. He offered a reflective insight, acknowledging that “the value of entertainment can sometimes be greater than the piece itself,” a sentiment that resonates deeply in today’s entertainment landscape.

With the potential sequel, there’s an air of optimism for fans. The continuation of these characters could blend thrilling racing action with the nostalgic clash of two legendary actors, creating intrigue not only around the film’s narrative but also the dynamics between the characters.
