Two Holland America Line cruise ships recently set sail on remarkable journeys, marking the beginning of extended voyages that will span several months and several continents. Volendam departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a 133-day world cruise that promises to be an adventure as it visits 51 ports across 23 countries on five continents, exploring destinations such as South America, Antarctica, Asia, Alaska, and the iconic Panama Canal.
Meanwhile, Zaandam embarked on a 93-day cruise from San Diego, California, designed to explore 42 ports in the stunning South Pacific, including popular locales like Bora Bora, Australia, and New Zealand. These Grand Voyages exemplify Holland America Line’s dedication to immersive and destination-focused travel experiences.
Crafted thoughtfully to allow travelers to explore the world at a leisurely pace, these extended itineraries emphasize meaningful time spent ashore, as well as experiences that bring each unique location to life. Michael Smith, the senior vice president for guest experience and product development, articulated the essence of these journeys, stating, “We’ve been sailing the globe for more than 150 years, and our Grand Voyages really showcase what makes the Holland America Line experience so special. The length of these journeys allows our team to create experiences that unfold at a relaxing and meaningful pace, and our guests settle into a rhythm of discovery that simply isn’t possible on shorter sailings.”
Looking ahead, Holland America plans to offer two Grand Voyages on the same ships next year, featuring a 129-day cruise and a 70-day cruise. Furthermore, the 2027 Grand World Voyage is set to embark on a roundtrip journey from Fort Lauderdale, connecting 53 ports in 28 countries, including overnight stays at seven destinations. Also, the 2027 Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage will visit 31 ports in 13 countries, which will feature an immersive four-day visit to Antarctica.
With such exciting itineraries ahead, Holland America Line continues to inspire wanderlust among travelers, presenting opportunities for unforgettable explorations across the globe.
