In a significant turn of events, Warner Bros Discovery has announced that it has acquired the rights to the anticipated series featuring David Hasselhoff, previously known as “Hasselhoff.” The series will now be titled “Hoff Roading” and is set to premiere later this year. The decision comes as part of an initiative to complete post-production after filming wrapped in 2023.

Perpetual Entertainment’s New Zealand team has been entrusted with finalizing the series, ensuring that the efforts of the cast and crew are recognized. Vicki Keogh, managing director and executive producer at Perpetual Entertainment, emphasized the series’ importance in mending international relationships, stating, “Resurrecting this production was important… we’re grateful to David and Rhys for trusting us to bring their story back to life.”

Filming the Kiwi comedy and travel series took place earlier this year, just before the unfortunate collapse of Stripe Studios, which had initially been involved in the project. While it remains unclear whether Hasselhoff has received full compensation for his work, he expressed his excitement about “Hoff Roading,” describing his experiences in New Zealand as “one of the best adventures” he’s had. Comedian Rhys Darby echoed these sentiments, highlighting the joy of showcasing New Zealand’s beauty to a Hollywood icon.

Warner Bros Discovery’s senior director of content, Matt Barthow, showed appreciation for Perpetual Entertainment’s role in reviving the show, which he believes will resonate with audiences both in New Zealand and internationally. Notably, the revival has also led to job creation within New Zealand’s post-production sector during a challenging economic climate.

In light of the ongoing financial troubles that plagued Stripe Studios, the latest report from the receiver indicates challenges for creditors, including unanswered queries regarding the company’s founder and the discovery of potential irregularities in Stripe Media’s finances.

Despite these challenges, the future looks encouraging for “Hoff Roading” as it gears up for release on Three and ThreeNow in the latter half of 2025, marking a hopeful comeback for all involved. The series not only aims to entertain but also highlights the enduring spirit of creativity and collaboration in the face of adversity.
