Historic Waimanu 7s Moves to Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium for the First Time

The 2025 Flame Tree Waimanu 7s is set to make history by being held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva for the first time. Traditionally hosted at the Sawani Primary School grounds, this relocation marks a significant milestone for the tournament, thanks in part to the support of its naming rights sponsor, Flame Tree Developments (Fiji) Limited.

Flame Tree’s director, Glenn Wakeham, presented a cheque amounting to $44,540 to the tournament organizers last Thursday, which was instrumental in securing the stadium venue for the event. In his remarks, Wakeham praised the efforts of the organizers, emphasizing the positive impact of development in local communities and expressing personal satisfaction from witnessing progress in the villages and among the youth.

Tournament director Alipate Navuso explained that the decision to transition the event to Suva was driven by the tournament’s growth over the years and its evolution to a new level. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Flame Tree for their crucial support in facilitating this move.

The Waimanu 7s tournament is scheduled to commence this Friday and will wrap up on Saturday, promising an exciting weekend of rugby. This year’s event stands as a testament to the ongoing development and enhancement of sports in Fiji, fostering community engagement and showcasing local talent.
