Abby Mallo, a junior catcher from Saint Louis University, has achieved a historic milestone by being named co-Player of the Year in the Atlantic 10 Conference. She stands out as the first player in the university’s softball program to receive this prestigious accolade. Mallo’s remarkable season includes leading the A-10 in critical statistical categories, having accumulated 18 home runs, 73 RBIs, and 125 total bases, while also setting school records.
In addition to Mallo’s success, the Billikens’ roster has seen other standout performances. Junior shortstop Chloe Rhine earned the title of Defensive Player of the Year, while head coach Christy Connoyer was named Coach of the Year. Senior left fielder Natalie Sullivan has also showcased her prowess, tying for first in the conference with 50 runs scored and boasting a .476 on-base percentage. Moreover, Sullivan has tied the school’s record with 131 career walks.
Saint Louis University finished the regular season strong, finishing as the runner-up in the A-10 and achieving a commendable record of 30 wins, along with an impressive 15-game winning streak. Pitcher Hochman has been pivotal as well, leading the league with seven shutouts and ranking second in wins with a 15-6 record.
