Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa raises funds for Fiji Cancer Society through Pinktober

Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa has demonstrated its dedication to community health and well-being by raising FJ$14,331 through a series of Pinktober activities aimed at supporting the Fiji Cancer Society. The month-long initiative drew participation from both team members and guests, who engaged in various fundraising events designed to promote wellness, creativity, and community spirit while raising awareness about cancer.

Carey Osborne, the Cluster General Manager for Hilton Fiji, emphasized that the support garnered from the activities truly embodies Hilton’s culture and commitment to making a positive impact beyond hospitality. “These initiatives reflect the heart of our Hilton culture, where hospitality extends beyond our guests to the wider community,” he stated. He expressed pride in the team’s passion and guests’ generosity towards this important cause.

Key highlights from the Pinktober events included:

– **Team Member Morning Tea & Bake Sale**: Team members baked and sold homemade treats, contributing significantly to the overall fundraising.
– **Pink Sunset Event**: On October 24, the resort hosted an event that attracted 56 attendees. Funds were raised through entry fees and auction items, with goods donated through a partnership with Tappoo.
– **Pink T-Shirt Sales**: Custom Pinktober shirts were sold throughout the month, with the efforts made possible by a generous donor.
– **Walk-a-thon**: The resort’s lively walk-a-thon on November 1 brought together guests and staff, raising additional funds through participation fees and donations.

These initiatives align with Hilton’s global “Travel with Purpose” strategy, which focuses on responsible tourism and fostering a positive social, environmental, and community impact. The Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa is committed to continuing its support for health and wellness causes and strives to be an “Iconic Host” that not only prioritizes world-class guest experiences but also uplifts local communities across Fiji.

Similar efforts have been observed across the region, such as the collaboration of several hotels in Suva, which collectively raised around $10,000 during their Pinktober campaign to support cancer care and awareness initiatives. This spirit of community action underscores the remarkable impact that collective commitment can have on local health initiatives. Such fundraising endeavors showcase how hospitality can harmonize with philanthropy, fostering hope and resilience in the face of health challenges.
