Today, on Giving Tuesday, we have an urgent plea for compassion centered on a baby pangolin named Tikki from Nigeria, who needs your help to survive. Sadly, pangolins are teetering on the brink of extinction due to the relentless efforts of poachers. This tiny creature was rescued from a bushmeat market in dire condition, crammed into a filthy sack and infested with hundreds of ticks—a record high for the team at the Greenfingers Wildlife Conservation Initiative (GWCI).
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of GWCI, each tick was painstakingly removed by hand, but Tikki still requires consistent monitoring and a specialized milk formula for several months. The cost to sustain Tikki for just one month is $100 (£77), a steep price in a country where the minimum wage is merely $42 (£32.50) per month.
Tikki’s story is not an isolated case; there are many pangolins in similar situations needing urgent care and attention. The need for specialized milk is crucial, as it gives these young pangolins a fighting chance at survival amidst the threats they face.
While a donation of $100 may seem out of reach for many in Africa, the support of caring individuals around the world can make a monumental difference. Every contribution counts and your generosity could be the lifeline needed to prevent these remarkable creatures from vanishing forever.
Pangolins, known for their unique keratin scales, face few natural predators, but they are no match for human greed. Without dedicated conservation efforts and the backing of compassionate people, their future is uncertain.
This Giving Tuesday, we encourage everyone to consider making a donation to aid Tikki and the countless other pangolins rescued by GWCI. Together, we can help ensure a future for this extraordinary species and contribute to the larger fight against wildlife trafficking.
Let’s make this season of giving about saving lives. Your support can have a profound impact, not just for Tikki, but for the future of pangolins across Africa and beyond. Please share this message with family and friends to help raise awareness and support for these vulnerable creatures.
Saving wildlife and preserving our planet depend on collective compassion and action.
P.S. GWCI remains committed to rescuing pangolins from cruel poachers, and your donations are vital to continue this essential work. Please give what you can today.
This optimistic message highlights that even small actions can lead to significant change, encouraging readers to participate in conservation efforts actively.
