Help Save Tikki: A Baby Pangolin’s Fight for Survival

Today, on Giving Tuesday, we invite you to show compassion for a baby pangolin in Nigeria, facing the precarious threat of extinction from poaching. Fortunately, dedicated teams have rescued this little one, and with your help, she can thrive.

This eight-month-old pangolin pup, named Tikki, was found in dire conditions at a bushmeat market, stuffed into a filthy sack and plagued by a severe infestation of ticks. These parasites were draining her vitality and posed a serious health risk.

Thanks to the efforts of Greenfingers Wildlife Conservation Initiative (GWCI), Tikki is safe. The rescue team meticulously removed each tick by hand, which was the worst infestation they had ever encountered. Now in temporary isolation to avoid disease spread, Tikki requires ongoing care, including a specialized milk formula that costs $100 (£77) for a month—a significant expense in a country where the minimum wage is under $42 (£32.50) monthly.

Your contribution this Giving Tuesday can provide Tikki with the essential nourishment she needs to survive. She isn’t alone; GWCI regularly aids pangolins in distress from meat markets and traffickers. Each of these rescues necessitates special milk for their survival, and with your support, we can make a difference.

Pangolins are unique creatures, distinguished by their keratin scales, which protect them from many predators, but they are not immune to human exploitation. Without continued conservation efforts and the backing of compassionate donors like you, their future looks grim over the next decade.

By donating today, not only will you help Tikki and countless other pangolins, but you will also play a vital role in preserving a species on the brink of extinction. Please share this message with your network—it takes collective action to effect change.

Together, we have the power to make a significant impact in the fight for wildlife conservation.

Thank you for considering a donation and for your commitment to protecting our planet’s precious wildlife.
