Helldivers 2 has rolled out a significant update with the introduction of new enemy types, enhanced weapon customization options, and improvements to in-game progression and the Superstore. Patch 01.003.000 is now available to players on both PC and PlayStation 5.
The update brings a fresh wave of aggression from the Illuminate faction, featuring new foes such as the Stingray—a highly mobile aerial jet that will engage player squads with precision strafing attacks—and the Crescent Overseer, which can unleash powerful barrages against players taking cover. Additionally, players will now face the Fleshmob, an intriguing creation that combines various alien components into a formidable close-combat adversary. There are hints of even larger unidentified enemy ships appearing on the battlefield, suggesting that players should remain vigilant for future challenges.
A standout aspect of this update is the newly added weapon customization feature. For the first time, players can level up their primary weapons through missions, unlocking a variety of attachments via Requisition. Customization options include sights, muzzles, magazines, under-barrel attachments, and aesthetic patterns, enabling players to optimize both the tactical and visual aspects of their loadouts.
Moreover, themed weapon patterns from factions like the Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame, and others will debut with the Masters of Ceremony Warbond starting May 15, adding to the game’s rich lore and variety.
The Superstore also received an enhancement, now offering permanent item availability, which eliminates the frustration of a rotating inventory and allows for a more predictable shopping experience.
In addition to these exciting changes, patch 01.003.000 administers a comprehensive balance update, fine-tuning weapon spread, melee stamina consumption, shrapnel effects, and fire damage impacts to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
This substantial update not only introduces thrilling new content but also demonstrates Arrowhead’s ongoing commitment to refining and expanding the Helldivers universe, ensuring players have continually fresh and engaging gameplay opportunities.
