Helen Mirren has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, an accolade that honors significant lifetime contributions to the entertainment industry. The award will be presented on January 8, 2026, during the newly unveiled Golden Eve primetime special, which will air on CBS and Paramount+ and celebrate both the DeMille and the Carol Burnett Award for television achievements.

The Burnett Award winner has not yet been revealed.

Mirren, celebrated for her remarkable talent, received an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2007 for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in “The Queen,” contributing to her impressive record of four Oscar nominations. Over her six-decade career, she has been acknowledged with 17 Golden Globe nominations, winning three. Her diverse filmography includes iconic performances in “Caligula,” “Excalibur,” “Gosford Park,” and “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover,” as well as acclaimed television roles such as Jane Tennison in “Prime Suspect” and her award-winning performance in the miniseries “Losing Chase.” More recently, she has graced the screen in the “Yellowstone” spin-off series “1923.”

Elevated to the rank of Dame of the British Empire in 2003, Mirren also received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2022, underscoring her profound impact on film and television.

Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne praised Mirren, stating, “Helen Mirren is a force of nature, and her career is nothing short of extraordinary. Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honor to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.”

The Cecil B. DeMille Award has a storied history since its inception in 1952, with past honorees including legends like Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, and Meryl Streep. Viola Davis was honored last year.

The Golden Eve special promises to deliver curated retrospectives of honorees’ careers, exclusive footage, and engaging discussions, forming part of a week-long celebration leading up to the 83rd annual Golden Globes ceremony scheduled for January 11, 2026, which will be hosted by Nikki Glaser for the second consecutive year. The nominations for the Globes will be announced on December 8.

This recognition not only celebrates Helen Mirren’s remarkable legacy but also serves as a reminder of the enduring power of storytelling in film and television, inspiring future generations in the industry.
