LOS ANGELES — In a bold overnight heist, a group of burglars targeted One Stop Sales, a toy store in La Puente, stealing a significant inventory of popular Labubu dolls. The incident occurred around 1:29 a.m. Wednesday, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The store’s Instagram account shared that four men forcibly entered and proceeded to take “all of our inventory,” which included these trendy, gremlin-like plush toys that have gained immense popularity this summer. According to the sheriff’s department, the total value of the stolen Labubu dolls is approximately $7,000.
Surveillance footage released by One Stop Sales captures the moment the masked intruders broke in, accompanied by the sounds of shattering glass. In the video, the assailants are seen loading boxes of merchandise into a getaway vehicle, identified as a stolen Toyota Tacoma, which was recovered shortly after the crime.
Despite the chaos caused by the burglary, the store remains hopeful and is reaching out to the community for assistance. “Today we got robbed, and they took all of our inventory and trashed our store. We are still in shock,” the store stated, urging followers to share their post in hopes of tracking down the thieves.
The Labubu dolls, produced exclusively by the Chinese retailer Pop Mart, are known for their “blind box” packaging, making them a fascinating collectible item as buyers are unaware of the specific design until they open the box. Recent trends have seen some of these dolls sell for over $500, highlighting the growing demand in the collectible market.
