Heiress Abigail Disney to Resume Donations to Democrats After Biden’s Exit

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has decided not to run for reelection.

Disney, whose grandfather co-founded The Walt Disney Co., had previously stated she would cease contributions to the party unless Biden was replaced as the nominee.

In an email to CNBC on Monday, Disney confirmed, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s decision to step aside and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

When she first announced her decision to withhold donations, Disney also expressed her support for Harris.

“We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s, and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity, and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she remarked.

Disney was among many elite Democratic donors who turned against Biden after his performance in a debate with former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from donors and dwindling campaign funds contributed to Biden’s decision to withdraw.

George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also endorsed Harris following the announcement of Biden’s decision.
