Heiress Abigail Disney Resumes Donations Amid Biden’s Exit

Heiress Abigail Disney announced she will resume donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to not seek reelection.

Disney, whose grandfather co-founded The Walt Disney Company, had previously stated she would halt contributions unless Biden was replaced as the Democratic candidate. In an email to CNBC, she confirmed, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has bowed out and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

When Disney initially announced her decision to stop donations, she expressed her support for Harris. “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she said.

Disney was among several elite donors who opposed Biden following his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from the donor class and dwindling campaign funds contributed to Biden’s decision to step aside.

George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also endorsed Harris after the announcement that Biden would not seek reelection.
