Heiress Abigail Disney Resumes Democratic Party Donations After Biden Announcement.

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to not seek reelection.

Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Co., had previously stated she would withhold contributions unless Biden was replaced as the party’s candidate.

In an email to CNBC on Monday, Disney confirmed her renewed support, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has stepped aside and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

When she had initially decided to withhold donations, Disney expressed her support for Harris. She said, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several elite donors within the Democratic Party who turned against Biden following a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from these major donors and dwindling funds contributed to Biden’s decision to bow out.

Following the announcement of Biden’s withdrawal, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also endorsed Kamala Harris for the presidential race.
