NEW YORK — Supermodel and television personality Heidi Klum embraced the Halloween spirit this year by transforming into Medusa, complete with green scales and live snakes for hair. Klum, known for her extravagant Halloween costumes, expressed her admiration for the Greek myth surrounding Medusa, a figure cursed by a goddess to become a monster whose hair is made of serpents, capable of turning those who look at her into stone.

“My goal was to embody a truly ugly Medusa, and I feel like we really achieved that—right down to the teeth,” Klum shared, pointing to the impressive fangs in her ensemble. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, complemented her look by dressing as a man turned to stone.

Not one to shy away from the commitment involved in her costumes, Klum revealed that she spent a remarkable ten hours getting ready for her annual Halloween party, a testament to her love for the celebration. Last year, she captured widespread attention when she arrived at her Halloween bash on a fishing line, dressed in a unique worm costume.

Klum has built a reputation for her spectacular costumes over the years, having previously appeared as an eight-foot-tall Transformer, a werewolf inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and even a multi-armed version of the Hindu goddess Kali. Known for her meticulous planning, Klum often begins conceptualizing her next costume immediately after her Halloween festivities conclude.

The Hard Rock Hotel New York served as a glamorous venue for the Halloween celebration, where several celebrities also strutted their stuff. Among them was Darren Criss, who painted himself green to become Shrek, Maye Musk who channeled Cruella de Vil, and Ariana Madix, who stepped onto the carpet in a Lady Gaga-inspired outfit.

Janelle Monáe, who also held her own Halloween celebration on Friday, embraced the theme with a unique twist, dressing as a vampire attacked by a shark. Monáe, who has taken the entire month to celebrate Halloween through immersive experiences in Los Angeles, remarked earlier in October, “This time of year gives context to what I already do every day as an artist. I’m always transforming, world-building, and inviting people to engage in the realms I create.”

With such creative expressions of Halloween spirit, both Klum and Monáe illustrate how the holiday inspires artistry and invites imaginative celebration.
