Health Is Wealth: Fiji's Family Fun Day Sparks Community Wellness

Health Is Wealth: Fiji Community Unites for Family Fun Day

Families, health professionals, and community members recently gathered at the Nausori Primary School Grounds for the Rewa Medical Sub-Division’s Family Fun Day, centered around the theme “Invest in Your Health for Your Wealth.” Held last Saturday, the event served as a vital platform to emphasize health as an invaluable asset. Chief Guest Mr. Marawa, who officially opened the event, spoke passionately about the true essence of wealth being found in the health and resilience of families and communities, rather than material possessions. He aptly noted, “families are the first hospitals, parents the first teachers, and homes the first schools of health.”

The day brimmed with activities promoting wellness, including interactive health booths and fellowship events aimed at inspiring a collective commitment to fostering healthier communities. Participants also engaged in biblical reflections, such as discussions on 3 John 1:2, which encourages a holistic focus on physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Acknowledging the essential contributions of healthcare professionals, Mr. Marawa encouraged community support for these individuals by prioritizing family unity and healthy lifestyle choices. The Rewa Medical Sub-Division expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the SDMO, SDNM, medical teams, community partners, and families for their critical roles in the event’s success.

This Family Fun Day complements other initiatives across Fiji dedicated to improving healthcare access and promoting healthier lifestyles, particularly in rural regions. The gathering serves as a potent reminder of the impact of community-driven health events, which not only offer educational benefits but also foster enduring lifestyle changes. As these efforts persist, they inspire hope for a united and healthier future, encouraging communities to come together in support of well-being for all.
