Hayley Williams Promises Inclusive Tour, Takes a Stand Against Hate

Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, has made a clear statement regarding the atmosphere she wants to cultivate during her upcoming tour. In an interview with Clash magazine while promoting her new solo album, Ego Death, Williams emphasized her inclusive approach to concerts, stating, “I’ve always said, all are welcome at our shows.” However, she specified a firm stance against certain ideologies, saying, “I don’t want racists around, and I don’t want sexist people around, and I don’t want people there who think that trans people are a burden.”

Williams touched on the themes of her new song “True Believer,” which she revealed to the New York Times explores racial tensions in the South. She expressed a passionate commitment to addressing racial issues, declaring, “I’m never not ready to scream at the top of my lungs about racial issues.” Known for her activism, the Grammy-winning artist has been vocal about her opposition to former President Donald Trump, articulating concerns over his policies that affect marginalized communities as the 2024 presidential election approaches.

In a notable move, Williams and her band members have previously taken a stand together. Paramore announced it would not accept any Grammy acknowledgment from Tennessee’s Republican-led House of Representatives, citing accusations of “blatant racism” after lawmakers blocked an honor meant for singer-songwriter Allison Russell following her Grammy win.

Fans can look forward to Williams’ tour, which kicks off on March 28th in Atlanta, promising an inclusive environment for all who share her values. This sets a hopeful tone as artists like Williams use their platforms to advocate for social justice and support vulnerable communities during challenging times.
