Rumors surrounding the potential return of Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” for a second season have generated significant buzz among fans. Jeremy Renner, who portrays Clint Barton, confirmed that any future episodes could draw inspiration from the acclaimed action film “The Raid.” There’s chatter about storylines featuring Clint and Kate Bishop battling against Barney Barton, also known as Trickshot.

Recently, Renner revealed some surprising news: he declined an offer from Marvel for a second season due to the studio proposing a pay cut to half of his earnings from the first season, all while committing to a demanding nine-month shooting schedule. Additionally, reports suggest that Marvel Studios is shifting its strategy regarding streaming content, opting to focus less on big-screen characters in their television offerings. This change aims to clarify the distinctions between theater releases and streaming programs.

As for Renner’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), his absence from the confirmed cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” raises questions. However, Hailee Steinfeld is expected to reprise her role as Kate Bishop, potentially teaming up with the Young Avengers. In a discussion with Cinema Blend, Renner hinted at having visited the set of “Avengers: Doomsday,” although it remains unclear whether he filmed any scenes. He expressed his strong bond with his fellow cast members, saying, “They are very, very dear friends of mine,” and noted the lasting connections they share, regardless of filming.

In another conversation with Screen Rant, Renner reiterated his openness to returning for “Hawkeye” Season 2, mentioning that the Christmas-themed narrative remains appealing. He stated, “There was always the idea to continue that narrative…in the Christmas framework of it all,” emphasizing the charm of New York during the holiday season. However, he also acknowledged that the decision does not rest solely in his hands.

While the possibility of “Hawkeye” Season 2 seems to hinge on reaching an agreement regarding budget and scheduling, Renner’s character’s legacy may continue through Steinfeld’s Kate. The first season effectively initiated a passing of the mantle, suggesting that Kate could thrive even without Clint in a leading capacity.

Fans will soon see how the MCU evolves, with “Avengers: Doomsday,” set for release on December 18, 2026, followed by “Avengers: Secret Wars” on December 17, 2027. As the MCU landscape shifts, there’s hope that the ever-beloved characters will continue to evolve and entertain audiences.
