Hannah Kobayashi, the Maui resident who went missing in Los Angeles last November, is back in the United States and is focused on healing as she processes her experience. In a statement shared through her aunt, Larie Pidgeon, Kobayashi expressed gratitude for the support she received during her time away, emphasizing the need for privacy for herself and her family as they navigate this challenging period.

Kobayashi, 30, was considered missing after she failed to board a flight from Hawaii to New York City on November 8 while at Los Angeles International Airport. Authorities confirmed that she was spotted crossing the border into Mexico on November 12, and her disappearance prompted significant concern and a large search effort. This month, she was located by family members and returned to the U.S. on December 15.

Los Angeles Police Department’s Lt. Douglas Oldfield communicated that the department has officially closed the missing persons case upon confirmation of her return.

In her heartfelt statement, Kobayashi noted, “My focus is now on my healing, my peace, and my creativity,” indicating her intentions to move forward positively despite the challenges she faced. She reiterated her request for respect and privacy during this time as she works through the impact of her experience.

This story serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and understanding for those who may be going through difficult moments in their lives. Many are hopeful that Kobayashi will continue to find strength and support from her loved ones as she embarks on her journey of healing and recovery.
