Tom Hanks and Bryan Cranston brought plenty of humor to the red carpet at the premiere of “The Phoenician Scheme” on Wednesday night. During the event, Hanks, 68, was captured joking with photographers, playfully expressing his eagerness to move on to pose for others as one photographer took longer than usual. With a mischievous spirit, he exclaimed, “I want to be right where [the other photographers are],” and even comically told one cameraman to “shut the f–k up,” which elicited laughter from the crowd of photographers.
Cranston, 69, joined in on the fun, light-heartedly responding to a comment about his slightly crooked tie. “My tie is askew!” he exclaimed, before humorously criticizing the photographer for not pointing out the fashion faux pas earlier. “Thanks for letting me know my tie was askew,” he said with a deadpan expression, adding that he might launch a line of ties called “Askew.”
The premiere attracted more stars, with Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Scarlett Johansson, and Michael Cera among the attendees, alongside director Wes Anderson. After the screening, the star-studded crowd moved to the upscale Metropolitan Club, where they mingled with other celebrities, including Matthew Broderick and Jon Hamm.
“The Phoenician Scheme” centers around a wealthy businessman, Zsa-zsa Korda (del Toro), and his daughter, a nun (Threapleton), as they navigate a world filled with eccentric tycoons, determined assassins, and charming revolutionaries. This new project from Wes Anderson showcases not only a captivating storyline but also the delightful camaraderie among its stars, highlighting the lighter moments of Hollywood amidst a serious industry.
The lighthearted banter and strong presence of skilled actors suggests that the film will blend drama with humor, and audiences can look forward to a unique cinematic experience.
