Denny Hamlin has secured the pole position for the upcoming Cook Out 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway this Sunday. During Saturday’s qualifying session, Hamlin was the slowest of the ten drivers who moved to the second round but ultimately achieved a lap time that competitors struggled to match as many fell behind by several tenths of a second compared to their first-round times.

The Cup Series is making its comeback after a break during the Olympic events, having last raced on July 21 at Indianapolis where Kyle Larson claimed victory. With only four races left in the regular season, the pressure is mounting as drivers gear up for the Richmond race.

The Cook Out 400 will take place at Richmond Raceway, a 0.75-mile oval located in Richmond, Virginia. The race features a total of 400 laps covering a distance of 300 miles, divided into three stages of 70 laps, 160 laps, and 170 laps.

The green flag for the race is set to wave around 5 p.m. CT on Sunday, August 11. Viewers can catch the live broadcast on USA Network. Streaming options are available via the NBC Sports app, FUBO (which offers a free trial for new subscribers), as well as NASCAR.com and SiriusXM’s audio service.
