Halle Bailey, known for her role in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, has reportedly obtained a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG, also known as Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. The order comes after Bailey alleged multiple instances of physical violence and emotional abuse throughout their relationship, which began in 2022 and ended in October of last year.
In court documents, Bailey claimed she feared for her safety and that of their one-year-old son, Halo, due to Granberry’s abusive behavior. She described a harrowing incident in January where their argument escalated to physical violence, resulting in her sustaining injuries, including a chipped tooth. Additionally, Bailey detailed an event in which Granberry allegedly entered her home without permission and sent her a threatening message.
In the order granted by a Los Angeles judge, Granberry is required to stay away from both Bailey and their child until a hearing set for June 6. He is also prohibited from possessing any weapons and is instructed to cease using social media to disparage Bailey, as such remarks have led to harassment against her online.
Bailey, who has not only gained recognition as an actress but also as a singer and a member of the musical duo Chloe x Halle, has previously received several Grammy nominations. Meanwhile, DDG rose to fame on YouTube and has released multiple albums since signing with a record label.
This situation highlights the importance of addressing domestic abuse, with Bailey taking a significant step to protect herself and her child. Support and resources for victims of abuse remain crucial as they navigate their circumstances.
