Hadestown is set to unveil a brand new principal cast on Broadway starting Tuesday, March 3rd. The fresh company will include Disney Channel and Broadway sensation Joshua Colley as ‘Orpheus,’ television and film actor Gary Dourdan stepping into the role of ‘Hades,’ Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer J. Harrison Ghee as ‘Hermes,’ Grammy Award and two-time Latin Grammy Award-winner Gaby Moreno as ‘Persephone,’ and Broadway rising star Jordan Tyson taking on the role of ‘Eurydice.’

Currently in its seventh successful year at the Walter Kerr Theatre, Hadestown is also entering its third year in the West End, following its return to London six years after a successful engagement at The National Theatre. The hit musical has made a significant impact with its record-breaking North American tour, which wrapped up its coast-to-coast run in 2024, and it has premiered internationally in cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Amsterdam, and South Korea. An exciting new production is expected to open in Brazil in the summer of 2026.

The current cast features Morgan Dudley as ‘Eurydice,’ Kurt Elling as ‘Hermes,’ Allison Russell as ‘Persephone,’ Paulo Szot as ‘Hades,’ and Jack Wolfe as ‘Orpheus,’ all of whom will perform their final shows on Sunday, March 1. They are supported by Jessie Shelton, Kay Trinidad, and Brit West as ‘The Fates,’ alongside a chorus of ‘Workers’ comprised of Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Jeffrey Cornelius, Sydney Parra, and Alex Puette. The cast also includes swings Sojourner Brown, Brandon Cameron, Ayla Ciccone-Burton, KC Dela Cruz, Tara Jackson, Max Kumangai, Gregory Treco, and Tanner Ray Wilson, with casting handled by Whitley Theatrical.

Originally conceived as an indie theater project by Anaïs Mitchell that toured Vermont, Hadestown evolved into an acclaimed album before becoming a groundbreaking musical under the direction of Rachel Chavkin. Blending modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz, the production reimagines the timeless myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through a unique lens.

The narrative intertwines two poignant love stories—one of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and the other between King Hades and his wife Persephone—inviting the audience on a captivating journey into the underworld and back. With its alluring melodies and poetic storytelling, Hadestown explores themes of industry versus nature, doubt versus faith, and fear versus love. Performed by a dynamic ensemble of actors, dancers, and singers, the musical promises to deliver a profoundly impactful and hope-filled theatrical experience that resonates deeply with audiences.
