Haas F1 Team Races to Success: Ocon and Bearman Shine in Belgian Sprint Qualifying!

Drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman of the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team performed admirably in the Sprint qualifying for the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship at the Belgian Grand Prix, securing fifth and seventh positions respectively. This achievement follows their challenging performances in the previous race at Silverstone, where they faced difficulties with the car’s setup.

During the initial qualifying rounds at the Circuit Spa-Francorchamps, both drivers effectively maneuvered their VF-25s through SQ1 and into SQ2. Utilizing the mandated Pirelli P Zero Yellow medium tires, Ocon clocked a lap time of 1:42.822, placing him in P11, while Bearman followed closely in P14 with a time of 1:43.024. Progressing into SQ2, Ocon improved his performance with a time of 1:41.801, which put him in fourth, and Bearman recorded 1:42.019, qualifying him for SQ3 in seventh.

In SQ3, using the allowed Red soft tires, Ocon achieved a best lap of 1:41.565, securing P5, while Bearman’s time of 1:14.857 for P7 marked his best qualifying performance of the season to date. Prior to qualifying, both drivers had a more challenging practice session on Friday, finishing in P16 and P20, but they adapted well to the changing track conditions.

Ollie Bearman expressed his satisfaction with the team’s collective effort, noting the positive impact of a new upgrade introduced at Silverstone, while Esteban Ocon highlighted the transformative changes made to the car since their struggles in the previous race. Team Principal Ayao Komatsu praised the team’s preparation and execution throughout the day, underscoring the importance of collaboration in achieving this promising outcome.

With the momentum gained from qualifying, both Ocon and Bearman aim to convert their positions into points during the main Sprint race. The Haas F1 Team’s strong performance signals positive developments as they continue to refine their strategies for upcoming races in the season.
