This evolution in her perspective towards motherhood seems rooted in her own challenging upbringing, notably having been coerced into a painful and controlling childhood by her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
Reflecting on her past, which included a tragic crime, Blanchard expressed a deep desire to be a better mother than she had. She found writing her memoir, “My Time to Stand,” cathartic, particularly as she recorded the audiobook, which deepened her emotional connection to her story.
As she looks forward to her parole ending in June, Blanchard is eager to travel and create experiences for her family that she was deprived of in her youth. She envisions a future filled with simple joys—vacations, family gatherings, and instilling values in Aurora that will help her find happiness and pursue her dreams.
