A man who made threats of gun violence on social media has been remanded along with four other individuals by the Rakiraki Magistrate’s Court, as they face serious charges stemming from a substantial cocaine bust in Vatia, Tavua, last month. Sunia Kobululevu is accused of issuing threats to members of the Fiji Police Force through a social media post dated January 28.

Joining Kobululevu in court were Norman Fisher, previously identified as a State witness in a related drug case involving Justin Ho, as well as Manasa Saladrau, Trevis Cheer, and Anaseini Lisa Kinikinilau Rokolati. All five are facing multiple charges, including conspiracy to unlawfully transport, transfer, and store 2.6445 tonnes of cocaine and other illicit substances.

In addition to conspiracy, Kobululevu is also charged with criminal intimidation, specifically for allegedly threatening gun violence to instill fear among the public. Saladrau and Rokolati face charges of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, having reportedly been found in possession of 0.8122 grams of methamphetamine. Furthermore, Saladrau is charged with destroying evidence after allegedly damaging a Samsung A05 mobile phone on February 2 to obstruct the legal process.

The case has been adjourned to February 27, and it will be transferred to the High Court in Ba, which will also handle cases against 11 other individuals involved. This operation highlights a significant law enforcement effort aimed at combating drug trafficking and related crimes, emphasizing the ongoing battle against substance abuse and organized crime in the region.
