Gui Santos delivered a clutch go-ahead layup with just 19 seconds remaining, helping the Golden State Warriors secure a narrow 114-113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night. This win came as the Warriors managed to rally late in the game, despite missing star player Stephen Curry for the fourth consecutive matchup due to a right knee injury. Coach Steve Kerr confirmed that Curry’s injury will also prevent him from participating in the upcoming All-Star Game.

The Warriors’ offense was led by Pat Spencer, who scored 17 points and provided seven assists, contributing to a balanced attack that saw seven players reach double figures. Alongside Spencer, Brandin Podziemski, Santos, and Al Horford each tallied 16 points, with Moses Moody adding 15 points to the team’s effort.

In a critical stretch late in the game, De’Anthony Melton’s layup with 2:46 remaining brought the Warriors within three points at 113-110, and Moses Moody subsequently narrowed the gap to just one point with two minutes left on the clock. The Warriors’ defense also played a vital role, with Horford stealing the ball from Cam Spencer after the Grizzlies failed to capitalize on a missed shot.

Despite a strong performance from Memphis, which included Ty Jerome scoring 19 points in total, the Grizzlies continued to struggle, marking their third consecutive loss and ninth defeat in their last eleven games. Their bench was notable, scoring 68 points—evidently taking advantage of Golden State’s defensive lapses. Taylor Hendricks and Jahmai Mashack also made significant contributions, helping the Grizzlies build a lead that ultimately slipped away.

The Warriors had previously met the Grizzlies earlier in the season, winning 131-118 on October 27, and they have continued to dominate their home matchups against Memphis, winning their last eight games at Chase Center dating back to October 2021.

Golden State will look to build on this victory when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are set to face the Denver Nuggets to conclude their five-game road trip before the All-Star break.
