Guatemala’s Young Star Shatters Gold Cup Record!

The Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) has highlighted the record set by Olger Escobar, who at just 18 years and 287 days old, became the youngest player to score a goal in the 2025 Gold Cup.

The young Guatemalan made his mark during Guatemala’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Guadeloupe, a match that propelled the national team, known as the Azul y Blanco, into the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Escobar’s historic goal came in the 29th minute of the first half, after a deft play with Rubio Rubín, which he finished coolly inside the box. He also netted another goal that was ruled out for offside, further showcasing his impressive performance.

The young forward was a constant threat to the opposing defense and received accolades from both the tournament organizers and the Guatemalan fans.

Following this victory, Guatemala advanced as the second team in Group C and is set to face Canada in the quarterfinals of this regional championship.
