GTA VI Release Update: What You Need to Know!

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed the recently announced delay of Grand Theft Auto VI, clarifying that it is less than six months, projecting the new release date to be May 26, 2026. Zelnick reassured fans during a CNBC interview that another delay is unlikely, stating, “Generally, when we announce a date, we’re able to hit that date.”

Previously, Rockstar Games had only suggested a Fall 2025 release window for GTA 6, implying that the game may have originally been slated for a late-November or December launch. This aligns with the company’s history, as most Rockstar titles over the past decade have experienced delays. However, Zelnick emphasized that the studio’s commitment to excellence makes the wait worthwhile, aiming to deliver “the best thing anyone has ever seen in entertainment.”

Interestingly, Zelnick admitted that he does not play video games himself, which raises some eyebrows given his role in overseeing one of the biggest game franchises in history. His focus is on cultivating top talent within the industry while allowing them the creative freedom to innovate.

Additionally, there are reports that Rockstar may be exploring new ports of past titles, such as GTA IV for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and Red Dead Redemption II for the upcoming Switch 2.

This proactive approach and emphasis on quality not only highlight Rockstar’s ambition but also reassure fans that the dedication to delivering a remarkable gaming experience remains a top priority.
