Rockstar Games has officially announced the delay of Grand Theft Auto VI, originally scheduled for a Fall 2025 release. The highly anticipated open-world crime game is now set to launch on May 26, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This announcement follows a surprise release of a stunning new trailer on May 6, showcasing the vibrant world of GTA 6.

To enhance excitement while fans await the release, Rockstar has provided nearly 200 screenshots from trailers and official materials. These images depict the game’s setting in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida, with Vice City serving as its main attraction—a return to the beloved Miami-inspired locale first introduced in GTA: Vice City back in 2002.

Among the characters players will encounter are main protagonists Lucia and Jason, alongside a diverse cast including Boobie Ike, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, DreQuan Priest, Raul Bautista, and Real Dimez.

With significant expectations riding on the game’s release, projections suggest GTA 6 could sell 40 million copies and generate around $3 billion in revenue within its first year. The anticipation surrounding the launch is palpable, reflecting the enduring popularity of the franchise.

This delay, while disappointing for eager fans, also allows Rockstar more time to perfect the game, promising a more polished and engaging experience come its eventual release.
