The highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed again, with the new launch date set for May 26, 2026. Rockstar Games announced this postponement in a post on X, mentioning that they did not provide specific reasons for the delay, which shifts the expected release from this fall.

In the statement, Rockstar emphasized their commitment to quality, saying, “With every game we have released, the goal has been to try and exceed your expectations and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception.” They expressed their hope for fans to understand the need for additional time to meet the expectations of players.

This news has impacted shares of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, which saw a decline of nearly 7% on the announcement day. Despite this, Strauss Zelnick, the chairman and CEO of Take-Two, assured the public that he supports Rockstar’s decision to take the necessary time to fulfill their creative vision, promising a “groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience.”

While the delay has disappointed many fans, reactions on social media have been mixed. Some fans expressed frustration, reflecting on previous delays, while others took a more optimistic stance, believing that the specified date indicates a firm plan moving forward.

The excitement surrounding the game was rekindled last year when a trailer was leaked, leading Rockstar to release a first look that hinted at a Miami-inspired setting, Vice City, and introduced a female protagonist named Lucia—marking a new direction for the franchise.

As fans await further news, the hope remains that the extra development time will contribute to a more polished and engaging game experience.
