Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are reportedly considering postponing the physical release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to minimize the risk of spoilers. This information comes from Polish site PPE.pl, which cites insider source Graczdari, known for accurately leaking details about other game releases, including Oblivion: Remastered and Microsoft Flight Simulator for the PS5.
According to Graczdari, as of now, there are no plans for a simultaneous physical edition at the time of the game’s launch. Instead, it is speculated that the game may initially release digitally on consoles, with the physical version potentially coming weeks or even years later. Reports indicate that while some suggest a delay of three to four weeks for the physical version, others anticipate it could be delayed until early 2027. The source emphasized that these measures are being considered largely to prevent leaks and spoilers in the lead-up to the game’s release.
Grand Theft Auto 6 has already faced multiple leaks, with a significant data breach occurring in September 2022, when over an hour of development footage was released. Additionally, a trailer was leaked in December 2023 by an anonymous user on social media, presenting another challenge for the developers committed to safeguarding their content.
Rockstar and Take-Two are increasingly aware of the repercussions of earlier physical game releases, which have previously led to untimely spoilers and gameplay footage appearing on streaming platforms before official launches. This awareness reinforces the potential rationale behind delaying the physical copies of GTA 6.
Currently, Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19, 2026, following two previous delays from its early planned release dates in Fall 2025 and then May 2026. The developers’ caution regarding leaks highlights their dedication to delivering a unique and immersive experience for fans upon its release. The anticipation for the game remains high, with fans eager to explore the next chapter in the acclaimed series.
