Grounded 2: A Sneak Peek into Evolving Adventures and New Creatures!

Obsidian and Eidos Montreal’s Grounded 2 has made a strong debut in early access, despite experiencing some performance challenges. The recent release of the game’s roadmap has provided fans with insight into upcoming features and expansions planned for the title, indicating that development will continue for at least a year, with new updates slated until summer 2026.

One of the most anticipated content drops is the fall update, which promises to introduce a mysterious new character named “Axl.” This character is linked to various gameplay elements, including recipes, craftable items, a boss, and an arena, leading to speculation that Axl may be a tarantula. This speculation is fueled by hints in the game’s mutation descriptions, and the roadmap clarifies that Axl will indeed possess venomous traits.

The winter update is set to bring additional enhancements, including Steam Deck compatibility, new equipment and furniture, and the introduction of new insect types such as crickets and earwigs. Notably, players will finally have control over the ladybug, a familiar creature from the first game that has now been reimagined as a tank mount, complementing the lethal abilities of the orb weaver and the utilitarian soldier ant.

Looking forward, the summer update promises to enhance the aquatic experience within the game, featuring improvements to swimming mechanics, new water-centric creatures, and innovative equipment. Ziplines will also return, offering players an exhilarating way to navigate the expansive environment while avoiding threats.

The roadmap also hints at vague yet exciting future additions, including more mutations, new creatures and bosses, and even expanded language support, with text available in Russian and Arabic. Although the updates do not specifically mention the in-game map, there are hints of considerable space still to be explored, with some areas marked for future expansion.

While Grounded 2’s early access build currently provides an engaging experience, players are looking forward to co-op play sessions, ready to band together against the game’s spider threats. Overall, the developers are committed to expanding the game and providing players with ongoing support, signaling a bright future for Grounded 2 as it evolves over time.
