The highly anticipated sequel, Greenland 2: Migration, is set to hit Indian theatres on January 9, 2026. Starring Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin, the film continues the gripping narrative of the original disaster thriller, Greenland.
The announcement was made by PVR Inox Pictures via an Instagram post, teasing a glimpse of a world that has been struck by apocalyptic events. The post stated, “Apocalypse just hit the world and if it struck India, here’s how it would look like. But the end of the world was just the beginning.”
The original Greenland, released in 2020, garnered $52.3 million worldwide, establishing it as a notable entry in the disaster genre. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the sequel is penned by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune, and produced by Thunder Road Films, Anton, G-Base, and CineMachine.
The storyline resumes after the catastrophic comet strike that devastated Earth, focusing on the Garrity family as they emerge from their bunker in search of safety in a transformed world. As the plot unfolds, audiences will follow John Garrity, played by Butler, and Allison Garrity, portrayed by Baccarin, alongside their son, now played by Roman Griffin Davis who takes over from Roger Dale Floyd.
The ensemble cast also features talents such as Amber Rose Revah, Gordon Alexander, Peter Polycarpou, William Abadie, and Tommie Earl Jenkins. The film is being supported by Lionsgate and STXfilms, adding significant clout to the production.
As excitement builds for Greenland 2: Migration, audiences can look forward to a thrilling continuation of the saga that captivated viewers in its predecessor.
