The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) is set to conclude the 2025 rugby sevens season with the highly anticipated Grassroots Fiji 7s, scheduled for December 18–19 at the HFC Bank Stadium. This tournament promises to showcase some of the nation’s most promising rugby talents while offering lucrative prize money across the men’s, women’s, and Under-20 divisions.
The FSC aims to attract 24 men’s teams for the main competition, where the Cup winner will take home a substantial prize of $10,000. The registration fee for these teams is positioned at $1,000. The Under-20 category will feature 12 teams competing for a Cup prize of $5,000 with a registration fee of $500. Additionally, the women’s division will award a top prize of $3,000, with a lower registration fee of $300.
Gilbert Vakalalabure, CEO of the FSC, emphasized the importance of the tournament, stating, “This tournament is more than just a competition; it’s about nurturing grassroots rugby, giving players a platform to shine, and celebrating the game at all levels.” This reflects the FSC’s ongoing commitment to developing rugby from the grassroots level, providing young athletes with valuable opportunities for growth and recognition.
In an exciting expansion of the event, volleyball will also be included in the weekend festivities, featuring an exceptional prize money offering that is expected to set a record for Fiji’s volleyball tournaments.
