FAIRFIELD — A significant grass fire in Fairfield has led to mandatory evacuations in the Vista Grande area as of late Monday afternoon. The blaze has consumed over 50 acres and remains uncontrolled, posing a “significant threat to life and property,” according to Cal Fire, which has dispatched additional crews to combat the flames.
The City of Fairfield announced shortly after 4:30 p.m. that residents in the following areas are under evacuation orders: Palmer Circle, Bear Creek Drive, Cherry Valley Circle, Longview Drive, Skyview Circle, and Shelter Hill Drive. An interactive map indicates that these evacuation zones are located directly north of Vista Grande and Putah South Creek, and southeast of the Rancho Solano Golf Course.
Evacuees have been directed to seek shelter at the Lowe’s on North Texas Street and Manuel Campos Parkway.
In a related incident, Fairfield firefighters are also tackling a smaller grass fire located southeast, near East Travis Boulevard and Sunset Avenue, although the size and impact of that fire have yet to be determined. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far for either fire, and the causes of both remain undetermined.
This situation underscores the urgency for community readiness in the face of wildfires, emphasizing the importance of evacuation plans and awareness. As fire crews continue their efforts, residents are encouraged to stay informed and prioritize safety.
