The government has strongly denied a false notice circulating online that falsely claimed all civil servants were not required to work today. The Ministry of Civil Service issued a statement clarifying that the misleading message is a deliberate act of disinformation intended to confuse the public and disrupt official communications.
According to the Ministry, all civil servants are expected to return to their duties today with specific operational guidelines in place. In the Western Division, only essential services will be operational, while civil servants in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Divisions are required to report to work as usual. Permanent Secretaries have been directed to ensure employees are aware of these arrangements and that essential services in the Western Division run smoothly.
In a related development, schools across the nation have been closed today due to severe rain and flooding. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro announced that this decision was made in consultation with the National Disaster Risk Management Office, following assessments from District Education Offices.
While the government encourages civil servants to fulfill their responsibilities, the closure of schools due to adverse weather conditions indicates a necessary prioritization of safety. This situation emphasizes the significance of clear communication and the government’s role in safeguarding public welfare while ensuring that essential services remain operational, even during challenging times. The hope is that through effective communication and cooperation, both public employees and students will navigate these difficulties with minimal disruption.
