Google is enhancing its meme-friendly image-generation model, Nano Banana, with an exciting new version called Nano Banana Pro. This upgrade introduces improved reasoning and instruction-following capabilities, enabling users to create more precise images that feature legible text and make detailed edits to existing visuals. The new model is accessible to all users through the Gemini app, although free users may quickly encounter usage limits.
Nano Banana Pro is integrated into the recently launched Gemini 3 Pro, officially titled Gemini 3 Pro Image, continuing the trend of quirky naming that features the playful moniker. To use it, simply select Gemini 3 Pro and toggle on the “Create images” option.
The enhancements in Nano Banana Pro allow for the generation of more complex imagery. According to Google, this model can create usable infographics in one go, eliminating the previously common issue of having unconventional AI distortions in place of text. The model is noted for maintaining a high level of consistency across its images, with the ability to blend up to 14 images and accurately display the appearance of up to five people.
In addition to its new imaging capabilities, Google touts improved editing features. Users can refine their creations or edit existing photos with greater control, making localized adjustments while minimizing AI-related glitches. Notably, the model can change critical elements such as camera angles, lighting, and color grading without disrupting the overall integrity of the image.
With an emphasis on professional applications, Nano Banana Pro supports resolutions of up to 4K, allowing users to produce high-quality content. This upgrade not only enhances creative possibilities but also makes sophisticated image generation more accessible to a broader range of users, providing a promising tool for both casual enthusiasts and professional creators alike.
