Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy, the champions of season 32 of “Dancing With the Stars,” are set to take the stage together once again during the season 33 finale on November 26. This performance marks their first appearance together since they claimed the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy last December.
In a sneak peek shared by Us Weekly, Gomez, 18, revealed what she has been up to since winning the competition. “I graduated high school, I turned 18, I was on the [DWTS] tour, I’ve been designing some clothing,” she shared, adding humorously that she recently bought a car but does not yet know how to drive.
Gomez expressed how meaningful this upcoming performance is for her, emphasizing her desire to showcase the connection she developed with Chmerkovskiy during their time on the show. “It symbolizes the ending of my season. I’m no longer the reigning champion, and now that’s someone else’s journey. I will always be there for my Dancing with the Stars family,” she said.
During the rehearsal footage, both Gomez and Chmerkovskiy shared their excitement about reuniting. Gomez noted, “Being reunited with Val is so much fun… it felt like coming back home.” Chmerkovskiy echoed her sentiment, reflecting on how much he missed that energy. They also discussed the transition of holding the title, with Gomez remembering how she felt being handed the trophy by last year’s winner, Charli D’Amelio.
The competition intensifies as five couples vie for the Mirrorball Trophy in the season 33 finale. The couples include Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson, Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong, Danny Amendola and Witney Carson, Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten, and Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold. Graziadei and Johnson, along with Kinney and Armstrong, have consistently topped the leaderboard, but the outcome remains uncertain as they approach the finale.
Jenna Johnson shared her hopes for the finale, stating she wants it to be a joyful experience, emphasizing the importance of cherishing the moment as time goes by quickly. She and Chmerkovskiy have shared a loving marriage since 2019 and are parents to a 22-month-old son.
The much-anticipated three-hour season finale of “Dancing With the Stars” will be broadcast on ABC and Disney+ at 8 p.m. ET on November 26, with the episode available for streaming the following day.
This reunion of Gomez and Chmerkovskiy serves as a heartwarming reminder of the bonds formed through the show, showcasing resilience and the joy of dance. As the new season transitions to its next champion, viewers can look forward to a celebration of talent and spirit that transcends competition.
