Tara Davis-Woodhall took the lead in the Olympic long jump on her second attempt at Stade de France and was determined to secure her victory. Despite a strong performance from reigning Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo during her fifth jump, Davis-Woodhall’s impressive fourth jump of 7.10 meters earned her the gold medal and marked her first Olympic title.

Building on her silver medal from the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Davis-Woodhall’s global profile continues to rise. Mihambo, a two-time World champion from Germany who won in 2021, finished second with a jump of 6.96 meters. Jasmine Moore, who previously claimed bronze in the triple jump, also recorded a jump of 6.96 meters, securing a third-place finish and marking her second consecutive Olympic medal.

Moore made history by becoming only the second woman to win medals in two events at the Olympics, joining Tatyana Lebedeva of Russia, who achieved this feat in 2004. Moore initially led the competition with her first jump of 6.96 meters.

As the final three jumps began, Davis-Woodhall was in the lead, followed by Moore and Mihambo. She further extended her lead with a 7.10-meter jump on her fourth attempt. Mihambo managed to improve her position with a fifth jump of 6.98 meters, moving into second place and pushing Moore to third.
