Gold Coast Hosts Fiji-Australia Business Forum to Drive Trade and Investment

Top officials from the Fijian government and various statutory bodies are set to speak at the upcoming 29th Australia-Fiji Business Forum, scheduled for October 22-24 at the Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel on the Gold Coast, Australia. This significant annual gathering, organized by the Australia-Fiji Business Council (AFBC), aims to facilitate discussions and boost bilateral trade.

Among the notable speakers is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica, who will deliver one of the keynote addresses. The event will also feature Minister for Agriculture and Waterways Tomasi Tunabuna, who will discuss strategies for enhancing Fiji’s agricultural exports. Niranjwan Chettiar, Director of Projects at Fiji Airports, is expected to address the critical need for building resilient infrastructure in Fiji.

Investment Fiji’s Chief Executive Kamal Chetty will focus on driving investment and export growth, while Josefa Wivou, Executive Director of Outsource Fiji, will highlight initiatives to establish Fiji as a prominent global outsourcing destination. The lineup of speakers includes Finance Minister Biman Prasad, KPMG Fiji’s Managing Partner Lisa Apted, among other leaders from various agencies, all set to discuss vital topics concerning Fiji’s economic landscape.

The two-day forum will cover essential subjects such as the promotion of Fijian business growth, investment opportunities, infrastructure development, digital transformation, and climate funding. Himen Chandra, president of the Fiji Australia Business Council (FABC), expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting the positive responses from delegates representing both the private and government sectors. He emphasized the importance of fostering dialogue between Australian and New Zealand businesses and their Fijian counterparts, aiming to elevate the visibility of Fijian products in international markets.

This forum continues the momentum of previous successful events, including the recent 28th Joint Business Forum in Suva, where officials reinforced the collaborative spirit between Fiji and Australia. The groundwork laid for new investments and partnerships is expected to benefit both economies significantly.

As preparations for this important event unfold, it promises to enhance business relationships and create new avenues for economic collaboration between Fiji and Australia, fostering a sense of optimism for shared growth in the coming years.
