Girma Returns as Hayes Names 26-Player USWNT Roster for Italy Friendlies

The U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Emma Hayes has announced a 26-player roster for an upcoming training camp ahead of two matches against Italy, a team that advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euro. These fixtures, taking place in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, are set to round off the USA’s schedule for 2025. For each match, Hayes will finalize the game day rosters to include 23 players.

The roster comprises three goalkeepers, ten defenders, seven midfielders, and six forwards. Notable inclusions are Olympic gold medalist Naomi Girma, who has returned after dealing with injuries while at Chelsea FC. Girma participated in a recent UEFA Women’s Champions League match, showcasing her form ahead of this critical camp.

The list also highlights two players receiving their first national team call-ups: Bay FC goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz and Chicago Stars forward Jameese Joseph. Another uncapped player, defender Kate Wiesner from the Washington Spirit, is returning to the national setup after being recognized as a training player in June 2024.

The matches are scheduled for Friday, November 28, at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, and then on Monday, December 1, at Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale. Broadcasts will be available in multiple formats, and tickets can be purchased through US Soccer’s official website.

Hayes reflected on the year’s accomplishments for the team, emphasizing the importance of competing against top European rivals. Such matches not only provide a benchmark for the team’s development but also lay the foundation for the upcoming World Cup qualifying year in 2026. This optimistic outlook suggests that with continued effort and engagement, the U.S. Women’s National Team is setting itself up for future successes on the international stage.
