Searching for Stars Hollow explores Gilmore Girls’ place in American cultural history and promises never-before-seen interviews and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from cast, crew, writers, and directors. The filmmakers describe the feature as one that “transforms the story you thought you knew of how Gilmore Girls came to life.”

Background on the series: Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007, first on The WB before it transitioned to The CW. A Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, debuted in 2016. The show centers on Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, with Kelly Bishop portraying Emily Gilmore, Lorelai’s mother and Rory’s grandmother.

The documentary is produced by Ink On Paper Studios, directed by Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad, with Adam F. Goldberg serving as executive producer and Jim Demonakos as producer.

What fans can expect is a deeper look at the show’s creation, its enduring appeal, and fresh perspectives from the people who helped bring Stars Hollow to life. The project offers a hopeful, celebratory look at a series that continues to resonate with new generations of viewers.

Summary: A documentary project celebrating a beloved series is moving forward, featuring a roster of cast and crew interviews, with more participants likely as production progresses, and a planned release to be announced after the Kickstarter campaign and production wrap. The film aims to shed new light on Gilmore Girls’ enduring cultural impact and its beloved world of Stars Hollow.
