BROCKTON — Montilio’s Baking Company in Brockton has outdone itself once again, crafting an impressive 850-pound Patriots-themed cake for the New England Patriots’ send-off rally. This vibrant creation, dubbed the “Patriots’ Winter Wonderland Cake,” will be part of the pre-game festivities held at Gillette Stadium on February 1.
Owner George Montilio revealed that the bakery has been a longstanding partner of the Patriots organization, creating cakes for every Super Bowl that Tom Brady participated in. “We love the Patriots, like we all do,” he stated. “We love being a part of it. It’s so much fun for all of our employees.”
This year’s cake, designed in line with a winter wonderland theme, is a classic eight-foot by eight-foot white cake filled with a colorful red, white, and blue funfetti. The bursts of color are achieved by using melting jimmies during the baking process. Topped with an array of Patriots-themed decorations, the cake features a snowman wearing a scarf holding a football and includes various footballs and the team’s spirited motto: “We all we got, we all we need.”
Anticipating a crowd of approximately 3,000 fans, the cake will be served during the rally, where attendees can celebrate the Patriots’ journey to the Super Bowl. The cake itself is a marvel of baking, consisting of 40 sheets weighing about 650 pounds combined with 200 pounds of buttercream frosting, totaling about 850 pounds. Montilio also noted that the cake contains a staggering 500 pounds of sugar, amounting to around 1,720,000 calories.
Montilio’s Bakery boasts a proud tradition of creating extravagant cakes for noteworthy events. In 2019, they presented a massive 1,200-pound football-shaped cake for the same rally, and in 2018, they crafted a large Boston cream pie in the shape of the United States, topped with a red, white, and blue design. The bakery also played a key role in celebrating Tom Brady’s birthday in 2018 by unveiling a hefty cake shaped like his jersey number.
Beyond the main attraction, Montilio’s Bakery is set to offer a range of football-themed cakes and cupcakes in their retail stores leading up to the Super Bowl, ensuring fans can find the perfect treats for their game day gatherings. Their locations in Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree, and Brockton will also be serving pizza, providing an array of options for fans to enjoy.
The New England Patriots send-off rally will feature performances by the Dropkick Murphys and the cheerleaders, along with appearances from Patriots alumni, head coach Mike Vrabel, and team captains.
