Get Ready for the Sooner Dojo: College Football Meets Gaming Excitement!

The Sooner Dojo Series for Fall 2024, focused on college football, has been officially announced. Every Friday during the home game weekends for the University of Oklahoma (OU) football team, fans are invited to participate in a pay-to-enter gaming tournament. This event marks the first semester in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and coincides with the release of an eagerly awaited video game that fans have anticipated for a decade.

Initially, the tournaments leading up to the game against Tennessee will cater mostly to OU students and fans. However, starting with the Tennessee game, there will be a significant push to market the events more broadly, creating brackets for OU and guest fans to determine who boasts the best supporters in college football.

Currently, there are no pre-registration options available; participants can simply show up, pay the entry fee, and take part. It’s emphasized that EA is not involved in sponsoring or affiliated with this tournament.

Entry fees for the Tulane Game Weekend (September 14) will be $5 for venue access, which goes towards staff and upkeep, and another $5 for the prize pot. From Tennessee Game Weekend onward (starting September 20), the fees will increase to $10 each for venue and prize pot.

The tournament will be organized by Jonathan “JTran” Tran, and the event is open to ages 13 and up, although all ages are welcome to spectate. Entry payments can be made through cash or major credit cards, and there may be additional pot bonuses due to sponsors.

Participants should expect payouts to be divided either in a 60/30/10 ratio or as winner-takes-all, depending on the bracket size and participant votes. Full production features are promised as they become available to enhance the competitive experience, including the opportunity to review gameplay.

Minors interested in participating are required to complete a parental consent form, which must be brought signed to the event. K-12 school programs are encouraged to reach out in advance for expedited participation arrangements.

This event is hosted by the OU Gaming Club, and further details can be accessed via their event page.
