McDonald’s has introduced a new menu item, the Chicken Big Mac, available nationwide starting Thursday, October 10, for a limited time.
The Chicken Big Mac is similar to the traditional Big Mac, but replaces the beef patties with two tempura chicken patties, resembling larger Chicken McNuggets, and omits onions.
Previously tested in international markets such as the U.K. and in Miami in 2022, the Chicken Big Mac was also featured recently at a pop-up dining experience in Los Angeles, presented by a mock chain named “McDonnell’s.”
When it comes to taste, the Chicken Big Mac is noted for being particularly messy, making it less suitable for eating while driving compared to the original Big Mac. The flavor profile is a blend of the original Big Mac’s ingredients—patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and bun—making it difficult to distinctly taste the chicken, which is quite flavorful on its own. The dish contains a significant amount of bread, as it includes the bun, a middle layer, and the tempura coating.
While the Chicken Big Mac may not surpass the original Big Mac or McDonald’s fan-favorite McRib, it is considered a fun novelty worth trying.
