Get Ready for Borderlands 4: A New Adventure Awaits in 2025!

2K Games has announced that a new installment in the “Borderlands” series, titled “Borderlands 4,” is set to launch in 2025.

According to the company’s description, players will have the chance to become legendary Vault Hunters while hunting for hidden alien treasures and battling a variety of foes. The game was unveiled during the gamescom video game convention on Tuesday and is now available for fans to add to their wishlists.

“Borderlands 4” will be the fourth main entry in the beloved franchise and the seventh title overall, which has sold over 87 million copies globally. The announcement follows the acquisition of Gearbox, the studio behind “Borderlands,” by Take-Two Interactive for $460 million in a deal that was finalized in June. As part of this acquisition, Take-Two gained rights to several franchises, including “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands,” “Homeworld,” “Risk of Rain,” “Brothers in Arms,” and “Duke Nukem.”

At the time of the acquisition, Gearbox hinted at six key projects in development, including sequels set in the “Borderlands” and “Homeworld” universes, as well as a new intellectual property. The confirmation of “Borderlands 4” marks the first project to advance past the development phase.

Randy Pitchford, founder and president of Gearbox, expressed the team’s excitement, stating they have ambitious plans to enhance beloved elements of the franchise while exploring new directions for the game. Catharina Lavers Mallet, senior vice president and general manager at 2K, echoed this enthusiasm, highlighting the significance of the “Borderlands” series and their commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for both longtime fans and newcomers.

The announcement of “Borderlands 4” comes after the recent box office disappointment of the “Borderlands” film featuring Cate Blanchett.
