Disney fans caught a first look at the upcoming live-action remake of the beloved classic “Lilo & Stitch” during the D23 Expo. The event showcased the CGI-rendered character of Stitch, giving attendees a taste of what to expect when the film arrives in theaters in summer 2025.
The presentation featured a newly designed logo for the film and a brief teaser that highlighted Stitch’s chaotic antics, reminding the audience of the character’s lasting appeal. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, known for “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” the film is produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, the team behind Disney’s live-action “Aladdin.”
Disney shared the news on their official Instagram account, stating, “Experiment 626 has entered the chat! The live-action #LiloAndStitch is coming only to theaters in Summer 2025!”
The movie stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo and Sydney Elizabeth Agudong as her sister Nani. The cast also includes Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Chris Sanders—who voiced Stitch in the original film—as well as Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis in significant roles.
The live-action adaptation will explore the special bond between a lonely Hawaiian girl and an alien with a mischievous nature, aiming to preserve the heart and humor of the original while introducing fresh elements for modern audiences.
At the D23 event, Disney also released new teaser trailers for “Snow White” and “Mufasa: The Lion King.”
